Marine Geophysical

MHS provides a comprehensive marine geophysical survey service including 2D reflection seismic and sub bottom profiling. MHS geophysical equipment includes 2D Marine Reflection Seismic, Boomer, Chirp and Pinger systems.

Key Benefits
  • MHS MKII High resolution 2D Marine Reflection Seismic (MaRS) system for medium to very shallow water engineering investigations;
  • High resolution sub bottom profiling for definition of sediment layers and pipeline location;
  • Analysis and reporting of field data by experienced marine geophysicists.
Capabilities

MHS provides marine geophysical investigations including oil rig site surveys, foundation investigation, offshore construction, port development and maintenance investigation, dredging investigations, coastal developments and ocean outfalls.

Capability 1

MHS MaRS MKII system, based on well proven 2D seismic technology from the offshore oil industry, utilises a specialised seismic source and highly sensitive hydrophone streamer with matched frequency response from 1Hz to 2.5kHz to produce Reflection Seismic profiles of sub seabed-strata and determine P-wave velocities in one survey pass. MaRS MKII also solves the challenges that arise when using traditional systems to acquire geophysical data in near shore and very shallow water operations.

Capability 2

MHS uses a Scheidegg Research Boomer mounted on a surface towed catamaran with an output of 100 to 300 joules firing twice a second. The system can be run together with a single or 24 channel hydrophone streamer.

Capability 3

MHS Pinger systems include 2.5kHz, 3.5kHz and 10kHz Pingers and a 3.5 to 33kHz Chirp. The variety of Pingers enables MHS to operate in a range of environments.
