Capabilities
| The
scope of Hydrographic Surveying Services provided by MHS encompasses
a broad range of activities to supply the needs of the maritime,
coastal engineering and offshore petroleum industries.
MHS
has a recognised capability in precision positioning and navigation
based on its dedicated well maintained positioning systems
and navigation software. Sub metre accuracy is attainable
for real time navigation using the latest in GPS technologies. Fully
automated data acquisition and processing, which is rigorously
quality controlled, enables rapid processing capabilities
for bathymetry allowing day to day management surveys for
dredging contractors.
Geophysical
Surveys for maritime engineering investigations and design,
foundation and dredging assessments, submarine pipeline/cable
route and monitoring surveys, and offshore structures/platforms/drill-rig
locations are carried out using MHS high resolution seismic
(boomer) system and 'state-of-art' dual frequency high resolution
side scan sonar system digitally interfaced for post processing
interrogation and storage.

Tidal
studies include datum transfers, establishment of tidal planes and
tidal constituents from thirty day data collection and analysis.
Tidal stream and current studies include the use of fixed and profiling
impeller systems and ADCP monitoring capabilities.
Environmental
Surveys embrace a range of measurements and monitoring techniques
for dredge plume monitoring, outfall monitoring, spills, river system
discharge, seabed differentiation and sand resource investigation
for reclamation, estuary and river management, channel and port
siltation studies, coastal erosion and management, and tailings
dam capacity and monitoring surveys.
